He started his career as a drummer in the early 60s when he was 13 years old. In the mid-60s, at the age of 17, he formed his own band called "Rebels". He was a member of the Black Cats from 1964 to 1979, which was started by his brother Shahbal Shabpareh. He embarked on a solo career beginning in the 70s. After the Islamic Revolution in 1979, Shahram, who had migrated to California a few years earlier, was unable to return to his homeland. Since then he has lived in the United States. With a career spanning over 50 years, he is a popular performer in Iranian society and his concerts are well received by Iranians all over the world. Shahram has also sat on the jury for the TV program Persian Talent Show.
