Jon Batiste er en fem ganger Grammy og Oscar-vinnende sanger, låtskriver og komponist.
Batiste ga ut sitt åttende studioalbum, Beethoven Blues (Batiste Piano Series, Vol. 1), i november 2024 via Verve Records/Interscope. Prosjektet markerer den første delen i hans nye solopianoserie, og viser Batistes interpolasjoner av noen av Beethovens mest ikoniske verk, gjenskapt gjennom en ekspansiv linse. Disse nyskapte klassikerne legemliggjør bluesens ukuelige ånd, og – tro mot Batistes «budskap om åpne armer inkludering» (New York Times) – omfavner et bredt sjangerspekter.
Batistes innovative musikk er omtalt i Jason Reitmans SATURDAY NIGHT, som ble utgitt på kino i oktober 2024. Filmen skildrer de kaotiske 90 minuttene frem til den første sendingen av Saturday Night Live i 1975, og understrekes av Batistes musikalske mesterverk, som har en blanding av jazz, klassisk og moderne elementer. Batiste komponerte og produserte musikken live på lydbildet foran rollebesetningen og mannskapet, og fanget perfekt intensiteten og uforutsigbarheten til showets debutepisode.
Batiste var gjenstand for Matthew Heinemans rørende 2023-dokumentar AMERICAN SYMPHONY, utgitt på Netflix i samarbeid med Barack Obama og Michelle Obamas Higher Ground. Batiste og Grammy-vinner Dan Wilson skrev den emosjonelle sangen «It Never Went Away» for filmen, som fikk en Oscar-nominasjon for beste originalsang og to Grammy-nominasjoner.
I 2021 ga Batiste ut We Are, som ble nominert til 11 Grammy Awards i syv forskjellige kategorier, en første i Grammy-historien. Han fortsatte med å vinne fem Grammy-priser den kvelden, inkludert årets album.
