Presented by Firebird Fine Arts Tours, Oslo welcomes home one of Norway’s most celebrated composers. Conducted by the award-winning Dr. Irene Messoloras and bringing together dedicated singers traveling from around the world to perform in the very landscape that inspired this music, this is a rare and intimate celebration of Gjeilo’s extraordinary choral legacy.

Ola Gjeilo is one of the most frequently performed composers in the choral world today. Born near Oslo in 1978, Ola studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music, before moving to New York City in 2001 to begin his composition studies at the Juilliard School. He currently lives in California with his wife Irene.

Ola is an exclusive Decca Classics artist, and his Decca choral albums include “Ola Gjeilo”, “Winter Songs” & “Dreamweaver”, featuring Tenebrae, Voces8 and the Choir of Royal Holloway, as well as the solo piano albums “Night”, “Dawn”, and “Ordinary Moments”. His global streams have now surpassed 250 million.

Dr. Irene Messoloras is the Artistic Director of Meridian, a London-based professional choir, and serves as Director of Choral Activities at the University of California, Irvine.  She has been awarded the Grand Prize for conducting at the World Classical Music Awards, the Vivaldi International Music Competition Grand Prize, and first place at the Bach International Music Competition — all in 2023. Her ensembles have performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Beijing Concert Hall.

The program highlights some of Ola Gjeilo's most acclaimed works, from the celebrated “Sunrise Mass” to a brand new work, “Alleluia”.
